On the same day as the BitBox the Action was hosted once again as Re-Action in 2012 at Rheindahlen.
Yesterday and today was the Action 2011 in Rheindahlen and i had to visit it.
It was announced that i would be the last time, that it could be held on the Rheindahlen Military Complex (RMX) as the Joint Head Quarters would be closed and the location wouldn't be further available.
The second part of the coverage on the Wargames Convention Action 2011 in Rheindahlen.
And even more pictures from the tables in Rheindahlen.
And the last batch of images from Rheindahlen.
Let's close the coverage with this Dr. Who table.
Another throwback! 10 Years ago, I went for my first trip to Salute and it was not just any Salute, it was their 40th anniversary.
This was during my time as editor-in-chief for a large German wargaming portal, and to cover all (or at least most) of the novelties, we put it in our schedule to fly to London, take a lot of pictures, talk to a lot of people and arrange for some review material to cover in the upcoming months.
Most of the shows I participated until then where local conventions, held in community centres or similar and the largest was the Crisis 2011 in Antwerp or Action 2011 in Rheindahlen at the British Army HQ. And people already told me, wait until you see Salute, it's huge! I knew the South London Warlords from their elaborate participation tables on other shows and was eager to find out for myself.
Today and tomorrow the CONflict Rheinland (Rhineland) will be held in Langenfeld near Leverkusen, between Cologne and Dusseldorf. As such it was a short and straight trip for me, 5 minutes to the Autobahn, 1 hour on it (just the A3, no changes...) and roughly 5 minutes to get from the exit to the venue.
The venue is the marksmen's club house St. Sebastianus Reusrath. Tickets are 5 EUR for a single day ticket and 8 EUR for both. Parking is free and available plenty right in front of the venue. As a club house, it has a bar counter, where drinks and snacks are available and as a marksmen's club house, it has a small shooting range, that was repurposed as an additional gaming area.
It is actually happening! I'll be at Tactica in Hamburg for the first time! I've been to Hamburg multiple times, but never made it during february, when the well known German wargames show Tactica is hosted.
In 2016 we headed with a motley crew to Stahl auf der Heide, the open day of the tank museum at Munster.
And with this picture of the event-legends from Salute, the South London Warlords, we head over to the second part of the coverage.
Beside the traders a lot of participation tables are the reason for the visitors to come to Crisis, so let's talk a look on a couple of them.
Already seen on the Salute was this impressive gaming table of Crush the Kaiser, but there is so much to see with lots and lots of details. The water filled bomb-out holes weren't done with resin or water effect, they poured real tee into the gaming table. Those crazy guys.
