WarCry – Gloomspite Gitz Part 2

Last time I showed two Gloomspite Gitz with spears that I can most likely use somehow in any lineup. This time it's the Loonboss's turn.

I have to admit, I struggled a bit with the model. I don't really like the original version, so I left out the mushrooms completely, including all the other bits and pieces that were attached to the model. The basic idea was to bring it closer to the look of the classic Night Goblins, but unfortunately that didn't really work out.

As soon as I painted the metal plates, I realized that the model was basically made of nothing else, which limited the painting options a bit. Of course, I could have gotten more out of it...the armor alone reminded me of a dung beetle, which makes painting it like chitin an option...but since I didn't have that much fun with the model's design, I didn't want to put too much effort into it.

What I also noticed was that, despite removing all the unnecessary details, some parts were hard to reach. To make the whole thing more appealing, I decided to experiment a little with rust, which in the end I was satisfied with enough to check the model off of my list.

As the contents of the Hachette subscription provide a very extensive range of Gloomspite Gitz, I'll have enough to choose from over the next few weeks to possibly create the warband in different setups. Next up will probably be a few models from the former Underworlds set Zarbag's Gitz. I'm already looking forward to the herder and the squigs, but in order to paint more minis in less time, I'll probably prioritize the archers.
