Twelve months, 20,- Euros – Part 6

Kamoley, half a year has already passed! If the second half of the year is also coming up so fast, I really need to get busy to finish my Mortal Gods project this year.

Admittedly, this is difficult for me at the moment. No, that's not because of my motivation, in fact it's quite strong at the moment. However, my family's demand for time with dad is high right now, which is absolutely fine since I enjoy spending time with my kids very much, but the hobby therefore has to take a back seat for a while.

This is reflected in my painting output this month - three models have received a touch of color and perhaps this shows another reason for my poor progress - there are three models from three different systems. So the realization matures that you also need a certain discipline in the hobby and have to stick to one thing until you have at least one milestone completed.

I have also fallen prey to a lack of discipline in my purchases. At Miniaturicum, I bought a box of the Afghan houses I'd been eyeing for a long time, and the small clay house from Renedra. Had I bought another set, I would have blown my monthly budget, but saved on shipping costs. But my greed was so strong that I thought "Come on, stay in budget, even if the shipping then comes on top and buy the rest of the houses then sometime else". In hindsight, not to buy anything for another month would have been the right decision. But in the end I only got to assemble the smaller mud house as well, so maybe it was the right thing to do after all...

My monthly summary is thus very short. I have made the following expenses:

Overall, not a productive, but an educational month. Since I had a lot of fun on the terrain last month, I will try to do something here again, because here I have the biggest lack hobbywise.

Originally, I wanted to participate in the summer project, but the time shortage this month has freed me from this thought and so I'd rather set myself a goal with the terrain I want to tackle in the near future. No table looks good without a decent forest, and a few buildings just always look nice. If I can manage to paint them in the Greek style, it will greatly enhance my personal gaming experience.

The trees ordered from Aliexpress dearly need reworking

Hopefully next month I'll have one or two more greek mercenaries ready, because a fully painted army adds to the flair of the game as well and I can't wait to get away from grey hoplites.

Zwölf Monate lang 20,- Euro – Part 6

Holey Kamoley, ein halbes Jahr ist schon rum! Wenn die zweite Jahreshälfte ebenfalls so schnell ins Land zieht, muss ich mir wirklich ranhalten, um dieses Jahr noch mein Mortal Gods Projekt zu beenden.

Zugegeben, im Moment fällt mir das schwer. Nein, das liegt nicht an meiner Motivation, tatsächlich ist diese im Moment sogar recht ausgeprägt. Allerdings ist der Bedarf meiner Familie nach Zeit mit Papa gerade hoch, was absolut in Ordnung ist da ich die Zeit mit meinen Kindern sehr genieße, doch muss das Hobby dafür eine Weile kürzertreten.

Das schlägt sich auch in meiner malerischen Ausbeute in diesem Monat aus - drei Modelle haben einen Hauch von Farbe bekommen und vielleicht zeigt sich da eine weitere Ursache für mein schlechtes Vorankommen - es sind drei Modelle aus drei unterschiedlichen Systemen. So reift die Erkenntnis, dass man auch im Hobby eine gewisse Disziplin benötigt und an einer Sache dranbleiben muss, bis man wenigstens eine Etappe geschafft hat.

Auch bei meinen Einkäufen bin ich einem Mangel an Disziplin erlegen. Bei Miniaturicum habe ich eine Box der schon lange ins Auge gefassten afghanischen Häuser und das kleine Lehmhaus von Renedra gekauft. Hätte ich ein weiteres Set gekauft, hätte ich mein Monatsbudget gesprengt, aber Versandkosten gespart. Meine Gier war aber so groß das ich Schlaumeier dachte "Na komm, bleibst ja im Budget, auch wenn der Versand dann draufkommt und kaufst dir die restlichen Häuser dann irgendwann anders". Im Nachhinein betrachtet wäre die richtigste Entscheidung gewesen schlichtweg diesen Monat ein weiteres Mal nichts zu kaufen. Doch am Ende kam ich auch nur dazu, dass kleinere Lehmhaus zusammenzubauen. Vielleicht war es also doch das richtige Vorgehen.

Insgesamt also kein produktiver, dafür aber ein lehrreicher Monat. Da ich im letzten Monat recht viel Spaß am Gelände habe, werde ich versuchen hier wieder etwas nachzulegen, da hier hobbyteschnisch auch der größe Mangel bei mir herrscht.

Ursprünglich wollte ich ja am Sommerprojekt teilnehmen, aber die knappe Zeit diesen Monat hat mich von diesem Gedanken befreit und so setze ich mir vielmehr selbst ein Ziel, bei dem Gelände das ich bewältigen möchte. Kein Tisch sieht ohne einen ordentlichen Wald gut aus, und ein paar Gebäude wirken einfach immer sehr schön. Wenn ich es schaffe sie im griechischen Stil zu bemalen, wird es mein persönliches Spielerlebnis deutlich aufwerten.

Im nächsten Monat habe ich dann hoffentlich auch einen oder zwei weitere Söldner fertig, denn auch eine voll bemalte Armee trägt zum Flair des Spiels bei und ich kann es kaum erwarten nicht mehr mit grauen Hopliten ins Gefecht ziehen zu müssen.
