A miniature Odyssey – Fresh Meat
After finishing my Summer Project in the last article, I have to say that I have developed a taste for it and would like to expand my army of Hades. All in all, the experience of a team project was very motivating and I would like to give the army a little more variety.
Well, what goes well with skeletons? Sure, zombies! For this purpose I snatched some zombies from Mantic from Gregor, who participated in the summer project with his indigenous tribes.
They can easily be combined with the parts of the Greek mercenaries by Victrix, or the remaining bits of the skeletons from Warlord, so you can get a nice mediterranean look.
For this reason I' ve added the heads from the conversion set for Corinthians by Footsore to some of the zombies. As you can see, the zombies are a bit bigger than the average models from Victrix, which is due to the slightly larger hero scale. Meanwhile this doesn't bother me anymore, because I use quite a lot of models from different manufacturers and the difference gets lost in the lot.
In terms of game mechanics, they are simply used as skeletons, because what else are zombies but skeletons with meat attached to them? Of course, you could refine this thematically a bit, make them slower due to the higher weight, but a little bit more robust in exchange, but in my experience games are most fun when you keep things simple. Visually, they look good next to the skeletons.
With these two regiments I will bring the point value of my existing standard troops to a whopping 190 points, which should be enough to bring the army with one or two heroes to 300. Maybe I'll build another regiment of zombies as archers, but I'll worry about that when this additional block is painted.
