Chaosbunker Daddies – Sport is a killer! Block 1
It took me exactly 29 days and therefore I am the slowest of the four Chaosbunker Daddies, but the first block is completed!
But let's take a look at it step by step. After all the basic colors were applied, I was able to achieve the desired shading with several layers of wash. For the deeper areas, I even used contrast colors from Games Workshop to enhance the desired effect. I don't paint with them exclusively on a mini, as I think they are too strong and leave streaks, but they are perfect to make shading easier.
Eventually, edge highlighting had to start. I began with the horns, the fur and the metallic parts, which took me only an evening to finish.
Then I continued with the skin and the black areas. The black is a recipe from the Games Workshop app and I really only paint black like this. With Chaos Black I prepainted and then painted the raised areas with a highlight from Dark Reaper. Finally I added some light accents with Fenrisian Grey, and bang, I was done and had a nice and simple black look.
Last but not leas the yellow areas had to be painted. First the base color Averland Sunset had to applied again and was followed by Yriel Yellow. Usually that would be enough, but as Dino always says, "you're not done until you reach the white". So first there I added a highlight with Screaming Skull and then some more edge highlights with White Scar.
At this point the team already seemed looked quite nice and could be called done, but of course a few details never hurt. So I gave each player a number on their back and symbols on the shoulder plates and bracers. So, the first block is done and I'll allow myself a few days I continue with the Halflings for block 2. At the given time I'll give an update on the progress, but for now I'll leave with a few detail pictures of the blockers and beastmen runners.
Thanks for reading and until next time
