Salute 2016 – Part I

Saturday, April 16th, a very early morning, i grabbed my flight to London, got on the plane, jumped into the rental after landing and headed for ExCeL London.

At 08:30 in the morning, a solid 1,5 hours prior to opening, there was already a solid queue and quickly, just after 09:00 the queue doubled.

The crowd wasn't only "regular" visitors, but some more passionate people, wearing customes and uniforms.

My first stop was at Hasslefree Miniatures, to secure me some of the few pre-releases. Beside the superb resin sculpts, the had the lead versions of some already available casts with them - at a limited stock. Not wasting anytime i headed directly toward Kev's glorious miniatures sortiment. Well, i'll cover my "yield" in separate blog post.

Salute is a trade and club event, beside a broad selection of miniatures, rules and kits, there a lots of gaming tables, like this freezing cold snow one.

And of course, a wargaming event without the participation of "big players" wouldn't be a serious event. The biggest wargaming show is visited by one of the biggest wargaming companies - Warlord Games used the chance and was bold represented. Demo tables for all of their systems and plenty of new releases.

In the neighborhood of Warlord Games, was a young british company for modern combat miniatures - Spectre Miniatures. They had a successful kickstarter last year, brought along a small demo table and a first preview of their upcoming rule set. Along the 28mm miniatures they offer acryl markers and resin vehicles. Keep an eye out for them.
