Bolt Action – Humber Armoured Car Mk II / IV
Along with A Gentleman's War, Warlord Games relelased two new plastic vehicle kits of armoured cars for the British and the Germans, covering a Sd.Kfz. 222/223 and Humber Armoured car, the later we're going to cover today.
This is a new 28mm hard plastic kit by Warlord Games, that formerly only was offered in different variants as a resin kit. The one we're covering today was a pre-release that Warlord Games send to me prior to the official release, thus lacking the boxing, etc. and minor tweaks might be done until the actual release outside the themed starter kit for North Africa.
Necromunda – Promethium Tanks and Refuelling Station
The latest Necromunda plastic kits revisit the Cargo 8 Ridgehauler and its options for trailers, adding a new type of container for both the trailer and a terrain piece with the Promethium Tanks and the Refuelling Station.
Both kits are available for pre-order from today (November 5th) and will be delivered starting the saturday after that. As the Book of the Outlands previewed some of the (empty) trailers and various load outs, these kits have their rules included in this book (pg. 76 ff.) as well as an addendum to the assembly instructions of the refuelling station (not the cargo-8 trailer). The rules in the book only cover Promethium Tanks as cargo-load of the Cargo-8, the rules for using the Refuelling Stations are only covered inside the kit. We're going to build both, the Promethium Tanks On Cargo-8 Ridgehauler Trailer and the Promethium Tanks Refuelling Station, beginning with the trailer.
Warhammer 40,000 – Leagues of Votann Hearthkyn Warriors
The next kit from the Leagues of Votann Army Set, after we covered the heroes on monday, let's take a closer look upon the Hearthkyn Warriors - the only core unit from the Votann Codex so far.
With the army set, we received 20 of these, which is two sets of 10. They are spread across three sprues with lots of options (as you can see from the pictures and will see in further detail in this review). We don't have a price yet, but I assume we will be around the 45 to 50 EUR mark, as this is a three sprue kit. Again, as with the other review, we're not going to talk about special rules or point values (especially with the current feedback from the community, it is likely that there will be an update).
Warhammer 40,000 – Leagues of Votann Heroes
Now it is time for us to look into the kits included in the Leagues of Votann Army Set, beginning with the characters. There are two character choices included, even a named one, Ûthar the Destined (who can be build as a Kâhl) and an Einhyr Champion.
As we have no official prices on these as individual releases yet, there are only speculations. But we can assume that Ûthar will be around 31,50 EUR and the Einhyr Champion on the 27 EUR price tag. Each of them comes in a small sprue and covers the model itself with a few options. But more on that further below. We're not going to talk about special rules or point values (especially as the later might be changed in an errata).
Troublemaker Games – 6-8mm Terrain
We revisit the range of Troublemaker Games after covering their building and ruins range, it received an elaborated update with a couple new plastic sprues, stls and even printed items. As I'm heading into 6-8mm with my Epic 30k project (and the adjacent topics of Adeptus Titanicus and Aeronautica Imperialis) this was good reason, to give these new additions another look.
The Troublemaker range is sold via Vanguard Miniatures and shipped from the UK. Currently the don't offer IOSS for EU customers, but they offer a shipping cost cap of maximum 10 GBP.
Warhammer 40,000 – Leagues of Votann Army Set
Today is pre-order day for the army set of the latest addition of playable factions for Warhammer 40,000 - the Leagues of Votann. The Leagues of Votann are the successors of the old Squats in the new Grim Dark design. Less cartoony, less ZZ top biker gang, more sci-fi with a bit of nordic inspiration.
These army sets were introduced a while ago and cover a medium sized force of miniatures, around the size of the Combat Patrol sets, along with a limited edition cover variant of the Codex, tokens and data cards. All this is usually set at a RRP of 155 EUR. Compared to the Combat Patrols, of which the most are around 120 EUR, you pay the upgrade for the Codex (~40 EUR RRP).
Necromunda – Goliath Maulers
Along with the latest supplement for Necromunda - Cinderak Burning, the next House to receive vehicles are the Goliath with massive bikes, the Maulers. We've already seen the Outrider Squads from House Orlock and were teased about House Escher's Cutter Jetbikes at Nova earlier this year.
Vehicles to Necromunda 2017 are a bit of novelty, just added this year with the Ashwastes. For Necromunda veterans of the mid 90s, this is the first time we receive "proper" officiala rules, as we had to make do with what we had, which meant house rules based upon Gorkamorka and some snippets from Citadel Journal. Especially if you take a look on how Necromunda started the relaunch. Gone were the days of bulkhead terrain, you played on a flat surface and now we're not just out in the open, but quiet mobile in our gang warfare.
Necromunda – Ash Waste Nomads Dustbacks and Wy’tari Stormcaller
We're closing the Ash Waste reviews series after the Cargo 8 Ridgehauler last month and Ironhead Prospectors earlier this week (breaking the 300 review barrier by the way! Yay!). And today we're looking at the Ash Waste Nomads, primarely the Wy'tari Stormcaller.
Games Workshop sent the the Stormcaller kit by Forge World and I traded one of the Prospector sprue against one of the Dustback Helamites to add a bit of more content to this review. That's why I'm only showing the sprue and not the box set or instructions, but it should work either way.
Horus Heresy – Xiphon Interceptor Squadron
The forces in Epic 30k give you the option for air support, and as I already some Aeronautica Imperialis miniatures around, I saw the opion to use the Xiphon Interceptors. Initially, those didn't really fancy for AI, but as you can field them as an attack wing in a of pair two, I thought they might be a good addition.
The kit offered by Games Workshop for the Aeronautica Imperialis range covers six of them, so more than enough. So I picked them up along with some painting material at my go-to store, Radaddel.
Necromunda – Cargo 8 Ridgehauler and Trailer
Last weekend the Ash Waste novelties went online for pre-order. And beside the new supplement Book of the Outlands and the Squat Miners, the Cargo 8 Ridgehauler and its trailer were introduced as well. We will look into these kits today.
In the new supplement you'll find the rules for these in Necromunda, along with some further mechanics of using other vehicles and even a small vehicle construction kit. But for this review the most interesting are the assembled and painted pictures, along with some samples of how the different houses us the Cargo 8 Ridgehauler.
