Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes MKIII Tactical Squad
Part of the Legiones Astartes Battle Group are the Space Marines in the new Mark III Power Armour. Available as a tactical squad as well, and compatible with the various weapon options already released. We will cover the Special Weapons Upgrades in this review along with the new models.
The Space Marines in Mk III are currently available as a Tactical Squad of 20 with a retail of 60 EUR or as part of the Battle Group, for 160 EUR with 30 Marines, a Dreadnought and Land Raider. These are no repacks of the Burning of Prospero release from 2016, but entirely new miniatures.
Horus Heresy – Legiones Astartes Battle Group
This new Legiones Astartes Battle Group brings not only the new Mk III power armoured Space Marines into battles of the Horus Heresy, but a new Dreadnought pattern, the Deredeo released as a plastic kit.
A bit smaller than the Age of Darkness boxed set, this Battle Group makes a great starting point for a Horus Heresy project, if the Beakies / Mk VI Marines weren't your cup of tea. And if you ask me, some Legions just have to wear Mark III armour, like the Death Guard or Imperial Fists.
Old West – Converting the General Purpose Wagon
You might have read the article on the General Purpose Wagon by Great Escape Games last week, and as I mentioned among the last few sentences, I got a few more of the sprues for further kitbashing and conversions.
Being highly motivated to produce progress on this setting by Red Dead Redemption 2, as mentioned in an earlier post, I started the last save game and took a few pictures of the wagons in the game. Some were broken down, others filled with goods and personal objects, and all of them provided inspiration for some modification based upon the plastic kit.
Great Escape Games – General Purpose Wagon
One of the items that I brought with me from our 2023 Nottingham tour as the new General Purpose Wagon by Great Escape Games. I picked it up at Northstar, as the complete set and another one with just the plain carriage, as an unhitched wagon.
This is a new hard plastic kit for the Dead Man's Hand range, they introduced a few weeks ago on their social media and as we had a stop planned at Northstar, I just the chance to get my hands on the two.
Bolt Action Tiger I Ausf. E
This is one comes from the vault and prepared for a while now, but somehow got sidetracked with the further completion.
The Tiger I Ausf. E is a plastic kit, produced by Italeri for Warlord Games in 28mm / 1:56. We've covered Tiger I and IIs on here before, among others by Warlord Games and Rubicon, in plastic and in resin.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of world war II, with the official designation PzKpfw. VI (ordnance inventory Sd.Kfz. 181) and was produced by Henschel. A total number of 1,347 units were build between 1942 and 1944 and were in service on the Eastern Front, North Africa and Europe in the late war. The early variants were prone to track failures and breakdowns, and the tank in general was expensive to maintain and to produce (expensive materials and labour intensive production methods). One of the reasons why, even as it was an impressive "war machine", it was overengineered. There were prototypes, for example by Porsche on the Tiger I development, the VK 45.01 (P), the hull was later used for the Ferdinand.
Bolt Action – SdKfz 250/1 250/3 and 250/10 variants Ausf. A
The German motor pool receives another addition. Warlord Games picks up the Sd.Kfz. 250 "Alte" again, and adds further variants for the Ausführung A.
The Sd.Kfz 250/1 is the leichter Schützenpanzerwagen, the standard troop carrier. Build straight from the sprues, no additional parts or conversion needed. There is already a multi-option box available, giving you access to the /9 leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (2 cm), a Reconnaissance variant with a 2 cm KwK 38 autocannon and a small turret, identical with the one of the Sd.Kfz. 222 armoured cars, and the /11 leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (schwere Panzerbüchse 41), with a heavy anti-tank rifle and an MG 34. This new set, covers two additional sprues, adding the /3 leichter Funkpanzerwagen, command variant, equipped with radio equipment and /10 leichter Schützenpanzerwagen (3.7 cm PaK), another reconnaissance variant with the 3.7 cm PaK 35/36, variants.
Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team – Ashes of Faith Supplement
It's been a while, since the last that the we covered a supplement for Kill Team on here. Back in 2018 we covered the semi-stand-alone boxed set of Rogue Trader, which was introduced earlier that year at Warhammer Fest Europe. And it is pretty similar with Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team - Ashes of Faith, a narrative supplement for Kill Team, which was introduced on Warhammer Fest a few weeks ago as well.
Unlike other Kill Team boxed sets, this one comes without terrain, but with a narrative campaign, which provides a bit of development for the teams. The two factions covered in this set are the Inquisition, with a retinue of Inquisitorial Agents and Ancillary support units (Scions and Sisters of Silence) and a cult of Chaos. Quite the stack of miniatures, but more on that later. You are welcomed by a lot of plastic once you open up the box. Beneath that, you'll find a divider with the Warhammer logo, protecting the remaining game materials (which we will show you in detail further below) from the sprues.
Bolt Action – Italian Bersaglieri
Warlord Games produced various kits to support the release of the two Italian campaign books for Bolt Action. We've covered Soft Underbelly on this blog already - and now the second plastic kit introducing the Italian Bersaglieri, to give you more options in addition to the regular Soldiers and Blackshirts.
The Bersaglieri were a troop of marksmen (the name translates into sharpshooters) and they served the Royal Italian Army. The units can be recognized by their black feathers on their helmets, which are not only worn with their dress uniform but combat helmets as well. The Bersaglieri fought in the Italian invasion of France and in the Greco-Italian War, later Bersaglieri regiments were deployed on the Eastern Front. One battalion of Bersaglieri participated in the East African Campaign. Six Bersaglieri regiments served and were destroyed during the North African Campaign. This means that the content of this box, similar to the Soldiers and Blackshirts plastic kit, is primarily for early and mid-war forces.
