Legions Imperialis – Mechanicum Infantry

Among the sets from the Mechanium Battle Group is a whole new set of Mechanicum Infantry with quite a lot of units covered in a single kit. As of today these only available through the battle group but will be released as individual kits soon.

The RRP of the Battle Group is 125 EUR for four sets of different Mechanicum units, compared to 41 EUR RRP for a single set of two sprues with bases (25mm round in this set) and an instruction leaflet.

Legions Imperialis – Mechanicum Battle Group

A proper start for the Mechanicum in Legions Imperialis, not with single boxes but directly with a Battle Group boxed set and a new campaign supplement The Rise of the Dark Mechanicum to cover the rules for these new units.

This trend to introduce new units as a bigger boxed set is something that we saw for a while now with the Horus Heresy, we received the "full scale" Mechanicum this way, the Solar Auxilia and most of the updated Marks for the Legiones Astartes.

The Mechanicum Battle Group is available as of today (October 19th) for pre-order and will be released on Saturday November 2nd 2024.

The way Games Workshop counts the miniatures for Legions Imperialis is a bit irritating, as they count each model individually (for example crew of weapon platforms count as individual models), so the 40 Tech-Thralls boost that number quite a bit. In this case you get 146 miniatures in their epic scale for 95 GBP / 125 EUR RRP. Unlike the two other Battle Groups for Solar Auxilia and Legiones Astartes, the Mechanicum "only" covers four boxes instead of five, which is the reason why this boxed set is a bit cheaper than the other ones. What individual kits these are, will be answered further below.

Adeptus Titanicus – House Moritain Ad Arma Pt. III

As the base decoration is dried and would be ready for further washes and dry brushing, I finished the trim and details on the models, it was time for further progress.

Adeptus Titanicus - House Moritain Ad Arma Pt. III

This meant a proper wash on both the bases and models. The later got a wash with Army Painter Dark Tone, but on a dampen surface, to use the capillary reaction of the water to bring in the pigments of the wash into the recesses.

Adeptus Titanicus – Legio Astraman Ad Arma Pt. XI

While I made progress on the Knights of House Moritain, it would be time to move on with the remaining Legio Astraman Reaver. I did the bases the same way as before, and added the two dry brushes after Citadel Contrast Aggaros Dunes dried. I used Army Painter Desert Yellow and Army Painter Skeleton Bone, and brushed it over the feet of the miniatures later as well.

As the armour plates were painted white and green, with the golden trim, I wanted to do the chevrons for some variation on left leg again and cut up some strips of masking tape and added the dark blue contrast in Citadel Base Paint Night Lords Blue. If you're not using an airbrush to do this, painting over the masking tape with the base colour creates cleaner edges, just like you would do on a wall.

Adeptus Titanicus – House Moritain Ad Arma Pt. II

We're jumping back in time to cover the progress on the miniatures for our Battle for Uulda campaign weekend. In addition to be a bit more flexible with my Legio Astraman, I added a few auxiliary knights from House Moritain.

As we would be playing between 1.250 to 2.000 points, in different matches and to cover the different point sizes of in these lists, I added three Cerastus Lancers and two Acastus Knight Porphyrion to the backlog of the current project. As I already put the Lancers on bases, but with thin sheets of plastic between the feet and the base, to not have them sink into the base decoration, I repeated the same thing for the Acastus knights and covered initial base decoration.

Adeptus Titanicus – Legio Astraman Ad Arma Pt. X

Only a few days until the next Battle for Uulda, and quite a bit to do. The regular maniple of the Legio Astraman has to be increased by a single Reaver Titan, and I need a few Knights to have the various lists between 1.250 and 2.000 points. Beyond that, a couple of smaller things to take care of, but let es see what the to-do list for Legio Astraman is so far:

  • Assembly of Reaver
  • Assembly of Sunfire Annihilator
  • Printing the further weapon options
  • Adding of magnets
  • Base decoration for Reaver
  • Name plates ordered
  • Name plates printed
  • Name plates painted
  • Decals sorted for Titans
  • Base paints
  • Washes and Highlights
  • Decals applied

So I build another Sunfire Annihilator for the Warlord Titan, and added the magnets to the Reaver as well as the weapon options. So we can check off two things from the to-do list.

Adeptus Titanicus – House Moritain Ad Arma Pt. I

As each of my titan legios will cover an allied Knight Household, I want to start with those supporting Legio Astraman.

Adeptus Titanicus - House Moritain

According to the Adeptus Titanicus supplement Loyalist Legios this would be the Knights of House Moritain, due to its ties to the Forge World Graia.

Legions Imperialis – Solar Auxilia Leman Russ Exterminator and Annihilators Squadron

And we're covering the third Leman Russ plastic kit, the Exterminator and Annihilators, for Legions Imperialis, after the Leman Russ Strike Squadron, the Executioner and Demolisher today.

All four new variants are included as formations in the new Devastation of Tallarn campaign supplement. They start out as squadrons of four and can be upgraded to a squad size of 10. Note, these can not be mixed, each squadron consists only out of one variant. With six different variants of the Leman Russ covered, the only one missing would be the Leman Russ Incinerator, with the Volkite Macro-Saker.

Legions Imperialis – Legiones Astartes Termite Assault Drills

And the third kit in this wave is are Termite Assault Drills, a unit for the Legiones Astartes.

The Termite Assault drills are an underground transport vehicle, often used in sieges or during similar heavily fortified scenarios. It is classified as an Imperial Subterrain Vehicle, and not the only one of its kind. Back in the Rogue Traders days, some armies had access to the Mole (used by the Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum and Squats) or Hellbore (Mechanicum and Squats), with variants like the Hades Breaching Drill.

Legions Imperialis – Legiones Astartes Sabre Strike Tank Squadron

A new type of tank for the Legiones Astartes, with the Sabre Strike Tank Squadron for Legions Imperialis. These have been expected for quite some time now, as their very distinguished shape was used for the Light Armour units icon.

In this boxed set of 8 Sabre tanks we have the choice between hull mounted neutron blaster or Anvilus autocannon, which means this kit is missing the volkite option, just like the three Leman Russ kits. The rules for the formation of Sabre Strike tanks can be found in The Devastation of Tallarn supplement, and the boxed set will set you back 41,00 EUR / 31,50 GBP RRP.
