Adeptus Titanicus – Mechanicum Cerastus Knight Atrapos
A second type of Mechanicum Knights can be found among the Cerastus Class, the Cerastus Knight Atrapos. Adding not only a new option for the Mechanicum in Adeptus Titanicus next to the Questoris Styrix and Magaera, but adding a fourth class of Cerastus after the Lancer, Acheron and Castigator.
As you can see from the box, this is a Forge World release and this comes with a few differences compared the "regular" Adeptus Titanicus range. Major point is, that these are only available directly through Forge World, so you have to order them either at Forge World directly or at a Games Workshop events (and at Warhammer World). With Games Workshop and Forge World still adapting to the current situation, it may take a while for these kits to be delivered and they may be out of stock from time to time. But Forge World is customer orientated, so shipping towards Europe is 12 EUR flat and free if you order for more than 90 EUR, and a really convenient service is that their orders are shipped DDP (delivery duty paid, so you don't have to pay customs or service charges). At a price of 50 EUR for the pair of Cerastus Knight Atrapos you're already half way there for free shipping. Another difference with these compared to other kits from the Adeptus Titanicus range, the Atrapos are cast from resin and not injection mould plastic or finecast. But more on that further below.
Dino’s Annual Summary 2020
As regular visitors of the Chaosbunker will have noticed, there have been rather few articles from my hand lately, which is why it's time to approach the year 2021 with a little more consistency and regularity. For many it is certainly no surprise when I say that 2020 was rather mediocre, but let's take a look at it together...
This was 2020
Basically, the year didn't start out bad at all. I went into my ongoing projects with a lot of motivation, wanting to both start a new gang for Frostgrave and finish the one I'd already started.
Adeptus Titanicus – Mechanicum Questoris Knights Styrix and Magaera
Towards the end of the year we see a new release of Mechanicum Knights by Forge World. Along the regular Questoris Knights (and later upgraded kit) two new classes enter the epic sized battlefield of the Horus Heresy - the Questoris Knights Styrix and Questoris Knights Magaera.
These being Forge World releases, this means a few differences towards the regular Adeptus Titanicus range. Most present is the direct only availability, as Forge World is only sold through Forge World themself or at Games Workshop events (and at Warhammer World). But they overhauled their shipping costs, making availability through their online shop quite a bit more affordable. And the second difference compared to Games Workshops main range they are cast from resin and not injection mould plastic or finecast. But more on that further below.
Journey of the Maulers: Vultures in the sky
The regulations for Corona are tightening again and the next Blood Bowl edition is just around the corner. Reason enough to put my foot down and give you a short summary of the pre-to-last game of the first season of the reformed team of the Maulers.
As usual, I used as many special rules as possible in this match and so it took place in a rpough and ready stadium. Our league reporter Mocky Python has remarked that the Blood Bowl games of ambitious teams in the lower leagues are not for a continuous broadcast, so you'll only see a highligtreel here.
Rough and Ready Stadium
Unclear Markings: The kicking team can move the center line one field forward or backward. Also, as many players as you like can be placed in the side zones.
Journey of the Maulers: The Corona Games
Meanwhile probably everyone has felt the effects of this virulent plague, no matter in which area. Unfortunately this has also had a strong influence on the season of the Maulers. I had already planned a few matches that cannot take place now. As a father of two children, grandparents as neighbors and a pregnant woman who is not allowed to take medication, I had to find an alternative for the remaining three matches of the first Maulers season to avoid exposing my loved ones to unnecessary risk.
The fans want to watch games, Corona or not
Coincidentally I have three painted teams standing here and so I tried something that I usually only do to learn rule mechanics - I played against myself. At first it seemed strange to me, but with the new edition on the horizon, time to finish the season is running out and playing a video game on the computer isn't really different.
Aeronautica Imperialis – Arvus Lighter and Vulture Gunship
In the second wave of Aeronautica Imperialis Forge World supports the range with two new resin aircrafts, the Vulture Gunship for the Astra Militarum and the Arvus Lighter of the Imperial Navy.
These are multi-part resin (not Finecast!) kits, available only through Forge World. Each clamshell blister covers two flyers, along with the accessories needed for use in Aeronautica; flying bases, clear rod and status cards with profile. The inlay covers the assembly instructions as well.
Blood Bowl – Old World Alliance & Underworld Denizens Pitch
Since a few weeks the Blood Bowl setting has been expanded with a revised Underworld roster and a new Old World Alliance roster. As with almost every team release, special play cards, dice and a pitch come along too. In this review we take a closer look at the latter.
The product costs, depending on the retailer you order it from, about 30,- € and comes in a sturdy packaging. The contents are the typical cardboard for dugouts, the field itself, a foam inlay that prevents the longer dugout from snapping, and the packaging that can be used as a practical slipcase.
Journey of the Maulers: Third game in the wander league
"Ooooh man Jim, did that have to happen right now?"
"Even Nurgle can't help it if his sneeze knocks out the big leagues for a while."
"But how are we gonna enjoy a little Blood Bowl?"
"How about we watch a game of budding amateurs instead?
"Yeah, that's a good idea, Jim! Those morons don't know how to do anything - at least that should provide some entertainment!"
In the Maulers' third game of the season, Denis was my opponent, who is also known as Baumling in the forum Tabletowelt.de. We know each other for quite a while now and so it's not surprising that the game had a certain build up. For a while I called his Norseteam soft elves and so I guess I got what I deserved in this game. Denis challenged me - with an Elf Union team!
Return of Warhammer – The Old World
Games Workshop announced in the midth of november that the Old World of Warhammer would return. And this has created an incredible amount of buzz. So far it has been updated with an insight to the new map of the old world.
And so far, we only know, that it is still a lot of time until it returns. At least two or rather three years from now. The setting has been set into relation with Age of Sigmar, as Horus Heresy is with Warhammer 40.000. Interestingly enough the map adds to that theory, as the different coat of arms seen, could point towards a civil war like crisis, like the Time of Three Emperors. A very fitting comparison to the civil war of 40k.
Journey of the Maulers – Creating character
Those who have followed the previous articles of the Journey of the Maulers series will have noticed that I value the characterisation of the minis a lot, both visually and narratively. I'm following a relatively simple scheme, but it's based on a lot of prior consideration. When I write a story for one of the players, I try to keep it as compact as possible. Just describing the framework of the character makes sense for several reasons. On one hand, the reader has the possibility to fill the gaps with his own imagination and perception, on the other hand, you have the possibility to extend the background over time to your liking.
