Mortal Gods – Hoplite Tutorial

The first of my Corinthian hoplites is painted and I am quite satisfied with the result. Since I might divide the Corinthians and the mercenaries of my army into two independent factions and would also like to have an army of Zeus, I deliberately based the color choice on the centaur.

This way I can use the hoplites later equally as Corinthians or Olympians. I also gave the hoplite two swords instead of a spear and shield. This falls more into the category of artistic freedom, but it breaks up a bit of a too-similar image of the models on the gaming table.

Mortal Gods – Greek Archers

There you go, the last two archers are done and so is the matching squad. Besides the usual snapshots of the models, this time I also read a bit about the troop type itself. I often see this when Dennis shows off a few of his models and thought I'd give it a try as well.

Dino’s January 2022

It was a good January, marked by many new beginnings. Jobwise I have started a new employment and hobbywise I have painted and tinkered peacefully away.

These archers for Mortal Gods have been on the painting table for a while, but I was only able to finish them shortly before the end of the month, considering my duties. In a few days there will be a few more snapshots and a painting tutorial on them.

Dino’s annual review 2021

Adios 2021! Finally the year is over and as usual in the Bunker, we take the time and ponder a little about the events of the past year. Of course, I could make it easy for myself now and say "Burn in hell 2021!", but despite many lows, there were definitely also pleasant highs.

And so the year got off to a pretty good start when I was able to add a group of painted zombies to my Army of Hades in January and finally bring it up to 300 points in February.

Twelve months, 20,- Euro Final Part…?

Weeell, well, well, look what’s here – if this isn’t the end of the year already! So it's high time to take a last look at my great moderation this year. In the following I have listed what I have spent my money on and yes, even in the last month I stayed within the budget - mission accomplished!

Twelve months, 20,- Euro Part 11

Holey kamoley, there has been a lot going on in November! First of all, I can announce that I managed to put the second studio of the Chaosbunker into action. I had to be content with a tiny corner before, but now I have a proper mancave at my disposal, where a few projects have already been started.

Twelve months, 20,- Euro Part 10

Didn't I say I'd be painting more in October? Well, it worked out well this time, as I unexpectedly had a bit more time than I originally thought. So I finally managed to finish painting the regiment of mercenaries that I had started so long ago.

Diamachos' mercenary squad is thus complete and brings a coherent picture to the table. From left to right: Glaukos, Patrobos and Sfairon, the experienced peltasts in the posse. Then Diamachos, the fearless leader, and Dromeas, the young and yet inexperienced newcomer among them.

Twelve months, 20,- Euro Part 9

Slowly the warm time of the year, and with it the hobby summer hole, is coming to an end. In fact, with falling temperatures, I have begun to pick up speed again. The children sleep much better when it's not that hot, and occasionally I get an evening out of it too. So I have, despite a long dragged along flu, finally painted something up again:

Twelve months, 20,- Euros – Part 7

As you can see, I'm writing my review for July with some delay this time. Yesterday, as I was thinking about how this actually happened, it occurred to me that I seem to always have a bit of a hobby slump at the same time of year: July and August. On a rational level, this is due to a combination of repetitive reasons, all of which can be summed up as a "temporarily growing amount of obligations."

Nevertheless, there is at least a small update. For some time now I've been chasing the Animated Statue from the Halodyne range of the game Godslayer. No matter where you order online, it usually costs around 30,- Euro. Even with the 4.17 left over from the previous month, this would not have been possible.

But as fate would have it, Daniel, also known as blackmail82 in German-speaking forums, actually had this model at hand and left it to me for 15,- Euro including shipping.

Twelve months, 20,- Euros – Part 6

Kamoley, half a year has already passed! If the second half of the year is also coming up so fast, I really need to get busy to finish my Mortal Gods project this year.

Admittedly, this is difficult for me at the moment. No, that's not because of my motivation, in fact it's quite strong at the moment. However, my family's demand for time with dad is high right now, which is absolutely fine since I enjoy spending time with my kids very much, but the hobby therefore has to take a back seat for a while.

This is reflected in my painting output this month - three models have received a touch of color and perhaps this shows another reason for my poor progress - there are three models from three different systems. So the realization matures that you also need a certain discipline in the hobby and have to stick to one thing until you have at least one milestone completed.
