The Barons War – Fantasy Skirmish arrived
Earlier this year the Barons War range was extended by a fantasy range, crowd financed via Kickstarter. The duo of Andy Hobday and Paul Hicks cooperated on various projects in the past, some as direct parts of Footsore, and after some back and forth with various names, the Barons War range is a Warhost product, by HobdayandHicks.
The delivery was a bit behind schedule (really just slightly, it was intended to ship in November and now was 2-3 weeks later), which isn't a huge issue for me, but due to the changes in GPSR they had a bit of hurry to deliver the packages to send out the European packages before the mid of december. This isn't the first time I backed a Kickstarter campaign where the two were involved, as I participated with Gangs of Rome, Barons War and treated myself to a custom sculpt with Outremer.
For this campaign, they went for a new interesting packaging, with printed boxes and beautiful artwork by Peter Dennis (who we will discuss further below again) and that certainly upgrades the value of the set.
Internal CONflict Rheinland 2023
CONflict Rheinland returns for the weekend of May 12th to 14th, once again as an internal affair. And I was there for the third time, after last year's show and the last public one in 2019. And with it being held in Langenfeld, just north of Leverkusen, it is a one-hour drive for me and much quicker than that for the people joining in from the Ruhrarea or Cologne.
And obviously, we can't cover an event, without covering the parking lot first. Lots of space right in front of the venue.
The Barons War – Outremer arrived
I backed the first Barons War Kickstarter back in 2019, and last year I went for the big pledge in the Outremer campaign, their 4th Barons War crowdfunding.
There were two motivations for me to do that, the first was this would grant me a second force for my Crusade themed project and I'd finale have the chance to have a personal sculpt done, and in this case even by Paul Hicks himself.
And the miniatures arrived in two batches. The first covering my unique sculpt and some bonus content (shown further below) and the second one was my main pledge, covering the Antagonist set of miniatures and a few additional codes, that I went for.
