Marvel Zombies – A Zombicide Game
The very popular miniature board game about the Zombie Apocalypse got several releases and supplements, along with a very interesting themed white label with Super Heroes - Zombicide Marvel Zombies in 2023.
Maybe not everybody knows this, as Marvel Zombies has been around, much longer and not just with the What-If Episodes on Disney Plus (and will receive a mini-series later this year!), but they were a series of comic books and collections, and as such the perfect material to be adapted onto the board game
The game was funded by a crowdfunding campaign, gathering more than 9 million USD (!) - and currently ranks #4 on the most backed campaigns for miniature board games on Kickstarter.
Road to CONflict – Part II
The Achtung Panzer! Blood & Steel starter set arrived, once again thank very much toward Warlord Games Germany for sending us the boxed set, it will receive a review of its own, but that meant I could start building further tanks for our Road to CONflict 2024.
Beside all of the rules and lots and lots of tokens, the Blood & Steel starter set covers German and British tanks, Panther and Shermans to be precisely. As we were going for a cold war gone hot scenario, I would only make use of the Shermans (yes, I know the Firefly was build in Woolwich, Hayes, Radcliffe und Nottingham, and not in one of the 10 American or the one Canadian factories) and keep the Panthers for different purposes.
Road to CONflict – Part I
For CONflict Rheinland this year, we had some special plans. We were invited once again and Florian asked me, after he hosted the large Frostgrave table last year, if I would like to join him on hosting a table. This progress would be covered under the project Road to CONflict.
Warhammer 40,000 Kill Team – Termination
The latest addition to the Kill Team boxed sets is Termination, and the third one for 2024 after Salvation (Space Marines vs Aeldari) and Nightmare (Drukhari vs. Chaos Space Marines). This time it is the Genestealer Cult vs. League of Votann, the Brood Brothers against the Hernkyn Yaegir to be more precisely.
None of the boxes are stand-alones, you will still need the Core Rulebook to play. The lite rules are free to download on Warhammer Community.
May 2024 review
May is over and while you might not have seen much activity on the blog, there was a lot going on. The first half was dominated by finishing the Road to CONflict, to be able to host a demo table of post apocalyptic tank war at CONflict 2024. And while you can see further coverage among others on Team Würfelkrieg, I'll give you a series on how I prepared the tanks and scatter terrain for our tank battle table.
Well, that explains why the first half of May wasn't that active on the blog, but why was the second half? Only two days after CONflict I went for a two weeks holiday towards Scotland, primarely for the Highlands and the wifi in our AirBnb wasn't that great, that I could finish the drafts I prepared. Because the pictures are edited and the articles are "just" missing the proper texts.
Internal CONflict Rhineland 2024
The Internal CONflict is actually the first wargaming event I participate in this year. Due to multiple schedule collisions I wasn't able to visit any shows early to this date, as you can see from my event schedule. What does Internal mean regarding the CONflict? Well, it is not an open event, but internal affair and you have to be invited to tag along.
But (!) this is the first time, that I will host a demo table as well and I'm really looking forward to it. And obviously, we wouldn't show up empty handed, so we packed the car with some snacks (make sure those are non-greasy, as you don't want Orange Cheeto Dust on your miniatures) and drinks, as well as gaming materials. I'll go into that later, what my essentials for a convention are.
Regular readers know - no event report without a proper parking lot picture, and as the CONflict is held at the clubhouse of a local rifle club, parking is not an issue. Beside that, the hosts provide us optionally with a full catering, (breakfast, lunch and dinner from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, along with a broad variety of drinks).
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 14 to 19
Issues #14 to 19 arrived with the fourth shipment of German Stormbringer by Hachette, including the first premium upgrade - the plastic kit for the dragon Krondys - Son of Dracothian.
Since the third shipment the issues are bundled in packs of 6 for subscribers, and this will continue until the end of the run. The issues themself are packed differently for subscribers from the way you will find them at your local newsagent.
April 2024 review
Welcome to May 2024! A lot of things going on behind the scenes, as May is packed with tasks. Just last friday the 4th shipment of Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer arrived!
While we continue with the Stormcast Eternals warband for Warcry, a lot of the content might be interesting for reviews, just like we did with the Annihilators. With the items from the Stormbringer shipment 3 (Issue 08 to 13) and shipment 4 (Issue 14 to 19), we will very likely cover the following kits, including two Warhammer Underworld warbands:
Star Wars Legion – Crashed X-Wing
We are going to take a deep dive into Star Wars for a few weeks and we start with the SWL 100 - Crashed Ex-Wing Battlefield Expansion for Star Wars Legion.
Along with the regular units, Asmodee / Atomic Mass Games released supplements for the game that not just worked as terrain pieces, but covered rules like scenarios and additional gaming material to it. In this case the crashed X-Wing isn't alone, but comes with a female pilot, which doubles as a mission objective.
Age of Sigmar – Stormcast Eternals Lord Imperatant with Gryph Hound
With issue 08 of Age of Sigmar Stormbringer we get another hero for the Stormcast Eternals, a Lord Imperatant with Gryph Hound. Don't worry, this is not one of the models that is going to be culled.
