Deth Wizards – Origins of Givana 2
Since Deth Wizards is more of a side project for me, despite the goal of playing at CONflict, I decided to try my hand at painting a bit smoother and not rush myself with the skeletons. Of course, they're not really special models, but what can I say, I like to paint and I like to take my time.
I also tend to forget how I painted some models, which is why I like to write myself “recipes”.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer – Warcry Stormcast Eternals Warband
I haven't updated this in quite some time, at least not written about it and I like to catch up on this. I started buildin a skirmish warband with the Stormcast Eternals from the Stormbringer subscription, mostly for Warcry, but not exclusively.
Anyhow, I was able to get the Stormcasts primed with Army Painter Colour Primer Dragon Red and some further base colours during a bit of mutual hobby time with other Wargaming Daddies. Never painted something red, so this was a novelty for me, but I think it is a great base colour and contrast to the regular golden boys.
Age of Sigmar Warcry – Stormcast Eternals Knight-Incantor Regis Fulbringer
Not everything for the Warcry warband was used from the Stormbringer subscription, some items were sourced differently. For example I picked up Regis Fulbringer with the Getting Started with Age of Sigmar magazine - along time ago around 2018-2020. And then again, after that magazine was sold out, trough the Arena Mortis supplement for Warhammer Underworlds during the Beastgrave season.
January 2025 review
Welcome to 2025 and we're doing a recap on January!
The year started directly with a gaming event, Dino and I went to ScenarioCon in Hackenheim. I managed to play quite a few games, tried out Fallout Wasteland Warfare, a home brew horror game about Jack the Ripper and All That'Z Left.
Footsore Miniatures – Mortal Gods Mythic Wild Centaurs
After we've already taken a closer look at the civilized centaurs, today we're taking a look at the wild version of the four-legged gentlemen. All models are intended for the Mortal Gods Mythic game and, like the civilized version, were modelled by Trish Carden.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 50 to 55
We have reached the 10th shipment of the German Stormbringer Magazine by Hachette, not only covering the issues 50 to 55, but the third premium add-on as well. Due to the split of the last shipment, some of you might get two boxes filled with miniatures within only 10 days. That is something!
With this set of six issues, we receive mostly paints and character models, but let us take a closer look.
As usual, you can find an overview on the issues so far over here, along with the detailed unboxings of older shipments as well:
WarCry – Gloomspite Gitz Part 5
If you started your Hachette subscription last year, you also received the Stabba Grot in the first delivery, which also happens to be the cheapest model in WarCry, at least if you play greenskins. As he just about fitted into my line-up and I kind of liked the model, he saw some paint soon.
Deth Wizards – Necromancy!
After setting the tone for Deth Wizards in the last article, I started collecting the pieces and fitting bases from the drawers and boxes, and went for all round bases, as I want to use them with my other fantasy miniatures, like the Beastmen. With the more heroic characters on 32mm round bases and the regular rank and files Johnny Undies on 25mm round bases.
As the spirit hosts don't have slots and were intended to be put upon 40mm squares with multiple miniatures, but we're going for single bases. As their pins provide a strong connection to the base, I simply drilled through the casting spot on the base.
WarCry – Gloomspite Gitz Part 4
It's been a while since I've painted Squigs, and since I got Zarbag's Gitz from Dennis' Hachette subscription, I had the opportunity to paint the new incarnation of red bouncy ones for the first time.
Play-wise, they make the most sense when there's a horder in the warband that can give them a movement bonus. Otherwise, Squigs play exactly as I expected, they are real glass cannons. They can make a difference in attack, but one cough is enough and they're off the table too.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 44 to 49
The ninth shipment of the german Stormbringer issues by Hachette was split into two waves. One half arrived before the holidays and the second half early last week, due to the warehouse being closed inbetween the years. This shipment has both Gloomspite Gitz and Sylvaneth in them, along with paints and even terrain.
