FeenCon 2024
Last weekend Dino and I went to the FeenCon, a convention hosted in Bonn, which went through a couple of changes over the last few years - one of them moving from the old location of Bonn Bad Godesberg towards Bonn Beuel, from the town hall to the comprehensive school.
And across the venue, the tabletop area was the smaller gymnasium, with the trade stands and board games and pen & paper in the other areas.
The tabletop area was hosted by three clubs, Bedburger Tabletop Freunde, Privateer Poza Boyz and the Tabletop Community Bonn. You might know the Bedburger Tabletop Freunde from our visit to their club house.
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 20 to 25
Last Saturday, on June 15th, the 5th shipment of German Stormbringer by Hachette arrived, covering the next batch of six issues, numbers 20 to 25, including the subscription bonus.
Shipment number three (issues 8 to 13) and four (issues 14 to 19) cover six issues each, and this will continue until the end of the run. You can find an overview on the issues so far over here, along with unboxings of the former shipments.
Age of Sigmar – Kruleboyz Man-Skewer Boltboyz
From our last shipment of Stormbringer (4th package, with issues 14 to 19), we received another batch of Stormcast Eternals and Kruleboyz miniatures, and among these are the Man-Skewer Boltboyz, that I would like to add to my Warcry Kruleboyz warband. But I didn't just want to build them, so I thought, why not share these in a review of them own.
They were part of Stormbringer issue #14, in this case the German run by Hachette.
Please note, these are the multipart Kruleboyz Man-Skewer Boltboyz, regularly available through Games Workshop at a RRP of 34 GBP or 44 EUR, which gives us a saving of 75% if we get them through Stormbringer. And further note - these are not the push-fit models from the older Age of Sigmar Dominion starter set, giving you much more details and bits to work with, but more on that further below.
Internal CONflict Rhineland 2024
The Internal CONflict is actually the first wargaming event I participate in this year. Due to multiple schedule collisions I wasn't able to visit any shows early to this date, as you can see from my event schedule. What does Internal mean regarding the CONflict? Well, it is not an open event, but internal affair and you have to be invited to tag along.
But (!) this is the first time, that I will host a demo table as well and I'm really looking forward to it. And obviously, we wouldn't show up empty handed, so we packed the car with some snacks (make sure those are non-greasy, as you don't want Orange Cheeto Dust on your miniatures) and drinks, as well as gaming materials. I'll go into that later, what my essentials for a convention are.
Regular readers know - no event report without a proper parking lot picture, and as the CONflict is held at the clubhouse of a local rifle club, parking is not an issue. Beside that, the hosts provide us optionally with a full catering, (breakfast, lunch and dinner from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning, along with a broad variety of drinks).
Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 14 to 19
Issues #14 to 19 arrived with the fourth shipment of German Stormbringer by Hachette, including the first premium upgrade - the plastic kit for the dragon Krondys - Son of Dracothian.
Since the third shipment the issues are bundled in packs of 6 for subscribers, and this will continue until the end of the run. The issues themself are packed differently for subscribers from the way you will find them at your local newsagent.
April 2024 review
Welcome to May 2024! A lot of things going on behind the scenes, as May is packed with tasks. Just last friday the 4th shipment of Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer arrived!
While we continue with the Stormcast Eternals warband for Warcry, a lot of the content might be interesting for reviews, just like we did with the Annihilators. With the items from the Stormbringer shipment 3 (Issue 08 to 13) and shipment 4 (Issue 14 to 19), we will very likely cover the following kits, including two Warhammer Underworld warbands:
Age of Sigmar – Stormcast Eternals Lord Imperatant with Gryph Hound
With issue 08 of Age of Sigmar Stormbringer we get another hero for the Stormcast Eternals, a Lord Imperatant with Gryph Hound. Don't worry, this is not one of the models that is going to be culled.
Age of Sigmar – Stormcast Eternals Annihilators
I grabbed these Annihilators as a reinforcement for the Warcry Stormcast Eternals Warband, that I built from the Stormbringer subscription. While I was looking, if I could get the push-fit ones from Dominion, the price of the proper multi-part kit was so close, that I went for the "real deal".
These are like I said, the multi-part not push-fit from Dominion (picture on the left), and you get a box with three sprues, options for having them either wield a two-handed hammer or hammer and shield, along with three round bases and an instruction leaflet including the warscroll. The price of these is 45 EUR RRP, but I managed to pick them up at a sale for 27 EURs.
March 2024 review
While longer than february, the month of march felt shorter. So what happened?
This month two deliveries of Stormbringer arrived, with most recently the 3rd shipment of magazine 8 to 13, we already covered on here.
Warhammer Fantasy – Classic Bretonnian Squires
Among the releases Games Workshop provided with one of the last waves for the Bretonnians in Warhammer The Old World were some not made-to-order classic miniatures, the Bretonnian Squires with Bows. I have used the metal casting for classic OOP miniatures in the past, most recently with some Bretonnian characters on foot and mounted on a Pegasus.
With the squires, I bought those blisters as well, but unlike in the past, it took quite long to deliver. Usually the items are sent out so that they arrive on release day, but it seems that is not the case more, in my case they even shipped them after the release day and only arrived a week later.
