February 2025 review
Welcome to March and let's do a recap on February 2025.
I pre-ordered the Army Painter - John Blanche Masterclass sets at Radaddel and now that they were shipped, I have set 1 and 2 in my hands. Looking forward to use them on the Turnip project.
Beyond that, we had a lot of Warhammer on here during February. From the High Elves release for The Old World, we covered the Ellyrian Reavers. And strongly reminds me to get back painting my Blood Bowl High Elf team.
But Games Workshop did not just send us them, but the Heavy Support Force for the Horus Heresy Mechanicum, and I am really looking forward to their release in Legions Imperialis, as we already seen them in a teaser, but do not have a date yet.
Beyond that, I am probably gonna keep it with the review of the Krios / Venator tank, as the other two kits are simply to similar to their counterparts, the Karacnos Assault Tank is basically a Triaros with side sponsons, and the Thanatar Calix is very much the same like the Thanatar Cavas, but with a different main weapon. So if I have time to spare, I might cover them, but as I am busy and still recovering from a serious cold, it might just get cut for other things.
I told you about the progress on the Deth Wizard project, mostly the terrain. We have several buildings, intact and in ruins, along with some scatter for the demo table.
And a teaser, as we went for something really big and printed the Leapfrog Inn as a ruin, and while that article is not online yet, I prepared them for the paint job, glueing the larger pieces together, filling in gaps with baking powder and so on. That was quite the messy experience, but worked surprisingly well.
In February I was on a professional training in Dresden. We had a bit of time on our hands to visit the old town. I was surprised how small the Airport and how calm the city was, as Dresden with almost 600k inhabitants is far from small (Germany's 12th biggest city).
And I have my Lego Passport with me during travels and grabbed a set of five fresh stamp for it. Thanks Lego Dresden.
While I had to rest, I was able to catch up on a bit of my movie backlog and covered the Directors Cut of Napoleon, while it skips large parts of the campaigns, but in the extended edition gives more room for the story (balancing out the part about the love story) it is impressive. The battle scenes look nice, the costumes and sets are impressive, but it seems to lack a certain historical accuracy and some say it is somewhere in the region of Braveheart.
As for the month of March, we are trying to visit the Bembel Miniature Cup towards the end of the month, Bitbox won't happen in spring, they are going for end of September with their next date.

I know that you’re busy, but I’d appreciate it if you could briefly cover the instructions for the Thanatar Calix. I would be interested to know if they’ve fixed the issues you had with the Cavas.

They “sort of” did. Instead of Left or Right leg lifted, it is now marked as Pose 1 and 2, compared to the impression with the Cavas, that you could individually choose a pose the legs from the options shown.

Thanks! Your reviews have been very helpful for me looking to pick up the Mechanicum models. I love the way you walk through the assembly steps with lots of photographs. Do you know if the Karacknos can be assembled with movable rocket hatches, or does it have to be glued open or closed?

The kit intends to be build either way, opened or closed, but you could probably convert it without too much hassle, either with pinning or using magnets.
