Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 44 to 49

The ninth shipment of the german Stormbringer issues by Hachette was split into two waves. One half arrived before the holidays and the second half early last week, due to the warehouse being closed inbetween the years. This shipment has both Gloomspite Gitz and Sylvaneth in them, along with paints and even terrain.

You can find an overview on the issues so far over here, along with the detailed unboxings of older shipments as well:

The printed pages of the magazine come as a single block, with two foldable parts separate to the bundle. All the miniatures and extra content is bagged individually. And in this issue we receive the third binder for our printed content.

The two seperate print parts, both are fold outs, are covering lore and game mechanics. One is featuring the Armies of Shysh, including a map of the realm, and the other one is about basic tactics, showing you suggestions for more effective arrangements of your turns.

Crazy to see that we are already across the half-time of the subscription with Issue #44. The release date was back in 2024, on November 22nd and it came with two paint pots - Contrast Skeleton Horde and Layer Balor Brown - and a small layer brush.

Usually the issues covering the paints are close to zero (or sometimes even negative) savings, but in this case due to the brush we get a total face value of 15,15 EUR (3,60 + 6,30 + 5,25 EUR), and both paints are quite useful and versatile. The issue itself covers the use of both, along with additional ideas on how to paint the Kruleboyz shields.

Still with a release date in 2024, November 27th, issue #45 was released and brought along a box of 5 Loonsmasha Fanatics.

These do not really have options, beside the aspect that they either swing metal balls or a kind of spore / mushroom around and a few additional heads that's it. And one unlucky grot, who couldn't handle the fanatic potion. The box of 5 fanatics comes with two sprues, and enough bases for the five models and the single marker, at a RRP of 35 EUR - which means quite the savings with this issue. And keep in mind, these are mail order only currently, so not discounts via third party shops.

As you would expect, we get collect, build and paint on the fanatics in this issue, along with further lore and one of the bonus panels with the fold out, belongs to this issue.

On December 4th 2024, issue #46 was released and included the Sylvaneth character Branchwych.

The model isn't available through Games Workshop anymore, and the small sprue was around 20 EURs back in the day. A nice sculpt, with the familiar on the shoulder, and you get it almost half off with Stormbringer.

With the issue, you do not only receive the regular info on assembly and painting, but even lore and a warscroll for the use in Age of Sigmar (might now be dated with the latest edition).

With Issue #47 on December 11th 2024 we get a really nice terrain piece, with the Realmscape Nexus Syphon.

This is a massive single sprue terrain piece, we covered it in a review back 2021. It was part of the Realmscape terrain series and priced at 40 EUR, so quite the steal for this one with the magazine.

The issue gives you not only covers the assembly and painting of the Nexus Syphon, but takes the chance to include painting on the primal lair from issue 16, and Azyrite Well from issue 25.

In Issue #48, from December 18th 2024, we get a set of 5 Boingrot Bounderz / Squighopperz.

This is unfortunately only half a box, but probably the most entertaining set from this shipment. I really like what they did with these. You get quite a lot of options, for the squigs, the riders and weapons as well. Savings are decent, 47,50 would be a full set of 10, these are half of it so you get 23,75 EUR worth of miniatures for 10,99 EUR.

No surprises in the content, but we get a warscroll for the use ingame in addition to the collect, assembly and how to paint pages about the new unit.

With Issue #49 from December 25th, we get a second batch of Spite Revenants (just like in Issue 43).

This is a two sprue kit with a RRP of 44 EUR, so solid savings on these. It is a proper multi-part plastic kit, with lots of weapon options and you can build them either as Spite-Revenants (pictured above) or Tree Revenants.

As they went into detail on these in issue 43, we get broader lore on Age of Sigmar in this issue as well as the alternate set of instructions for assembly and painting the Spite Revenants.

In this shipment we get the third binder, to store our magazine pages. And as usual, each issue covers a preview on the next two ones. In our case a teaser on the issues #50 + #51 is of interest, covering two paints (one of which a texture paint) and a Loon Boss on Giant Squig.

These six issues of Age of Sigmar Stormbringer cost us 65,94 EUR (plus another 12 EUR for the premium upgrade) and we got minimatures with a RRP of around 180 EUR. Savings of about two thirds. Not bad. And with the terrain, you get a real nice addition to your table. The next shipment should arrived in one or two weeks, as we are part of the second wave, with more paints, Goblins, terrain and the first Kharadron Overlord!

As mentioned further above, you can find an overview on the issues so far over here, along with the detailed unboxings of older shipments as well:
