Legions Imperialis – Dark Mechanicum Stalker Constructs

In addition to the Mechanicum release for Legions Imperialis, Games Workshop added the first sets for the Dark Mechanicum, the Stalker Constructs and Serperos Overlord Heavy Stalkers - both of which we're going to cover today, but starting with the Stalker Constructs here.

This set goes for pre-order today on December 7th and will be released on December 21st 2025, at a RRP of 41 EUR.

These are entirely new designs added to the game. We had obviously Dark Mechanicum in the lore in the past, as a playable faction as well, but never written out in detail. And to give the "full scale" Horus Heresy folks a heads up. Games Workshop uses the 28-32mm models for the box art with all the epic scale products (they did so with Adeptus Titanicus and Aeronautica Imperialis) and what we see on the packaging is most certainly the upcoming model for the Horus Heresy.

But that is not all, because these boxes come with rules for the use of the stalkers in Adeptus Titanicus as well. For that, we receive command terminals (yay!).

The Dark Mechanicum Stalker Contructs come with two identical medium sized sprues, which is a normal thing with the side games, along with 8x 25mm and 6x 50mm round bases. These are the flat Legions Imperialis designs.

In addition we find a black envelope in this kit. This is something new, with the Dark Mechanicum boxes for Legions Imperialis so far. In there are the instructions for the four different units and three command terminals for the use of the Stalker Constructs in Adeptus Titanicus. These miniature do not come with decals.

The sprues are pretty packed and make use of A/B designs, but more on that later below. There a minor mould lines, but beyond that the casting is very sharp and covers lot of detail.

The first unit we're going to build, well clean off the sprue are the Harpax Swarmer Scout Host. Each sprue covers six different poses and a total of 12 miniatures, which are added in sets of three to the 25mm round bases. No further assembly needed. This a new unit, that hasn't been added to 30k yet. So I assume we will see these in 28-32mm as well in the near future.

Same goes for the Stalker Constructs, of which there are three different designs included in this set. We have the Tenebrax "Archer" Battle Stalker, Scintillax "Cyclops" Noospheric Stalker and Errax "Butcher" Assault Stalker. They have weapon options for the smaller auxiliary systems, and in case of the Cyclops even an A/B for the center weapon. It would have been great to hav something similar for the Errax "Butcher", but it doesn't take much to modify these tentacles in a way that creates different articulations.

All of them have disk with holes as a lower part, to which the legs are added. Depending on the design these are between 5 and 6, and you can basically mix those freely, to create different poses. There are however two sets of shorter front legs, that you could still mix for conversion purposes.

These took a bit to clean up, as the parts are quite thin and you don't want to use too much force for removing the mould lines, to not break any parts or details.

These models are added to the 50mm round bases and just by mixing the legs, you create quite different poses. Due to the amount of space the keep between their legs and on the base, you have plenty room for further details, wracks or casualties placed upon the bases.

And just in case you want to put them on the taller bases, like the initial Titanicus release, that works fine as well.

For scale comparison, the Stalker Constructs are about half the size the Overlords are, and even a bit smaller than the Questoris Knights.

Conclusion

Compared to the Questoris knights, where you only get 3 models for 35 EURs, this is a nice addition for Traitor forces, wether those are playing Legions Imperials or Adeptus Titanicus. I just expected the Stalker constructs to be a bit bigger / at least taller. But beyond that, this set provides value.

What I really like is the aspect, that we have a fresh and new design. These are not just knights on spider legs, but something very sinister and lean. I hope we will see more of these, maybe some bigger constructs and a bit more lore, especially paint schemes.

Assembly was absolutely no issue, quite fast builds. The only aspect was the cleaning of the mould lines and due to amount of details and fine casting, couldn't be done in a rush. But it pays out in my opinion. The legs will give you a good opportunity, to have them standing on wracks or have them interact with the base design you choose.
