Legions Imperialis – Dark Mechanicum Serperos Overlord Heavy Stalkers

The second set from the Dark Mechanicum for Legions Imperialis are the Serperos 'Overlord' Heavy Stalkers and they complement the lighter Stalker Construct to flesh out the Mechanicum lists for the traitor forces.

This set goes for pre-order today on December 7th and will be released on December 21st 2025, at a RRP of 41 EUR.

The constructs are new designs to the Horus Heresy, and haven't been seen before neither in 28-32 nor epic scale. As Games Workshop uses the larger models for the product pictures on Titanicus, Aeronautica and Imperialis, we actually get a preview on the upcoming models right there on the boxes. With this kit we get four models of the new Serperos Heavy Stalker design.

A really nice bonus to these kits, just like the Stalker Constructs, is the addition of the Command Terminals for the use of these units in Adeptus Titanicus.

The Dark Mechanicum Serperos Overlord Heavy Stalkers cover two identical medium sized sprues, a black envelope, four 60mm bases (that are actually 64mm in diameter) and a decal sheet.

Within the black envelope we find the building instructions as well as two command terminals for use of the Heavy Stalkers with Adeptus Titanicus. The decal sheet is explicitly for the DARK mechanicum and has a lot of insignia in black and white for your forces.

Both sprues in this set are identical and make use of the A/B variations, as we've seen with Kill Team or Necromunda. Good use of the space within the frame and proper casting with lots of detail.

Unlike the tanks, we build the Stalkers from top down, beginning with the "head". There are two variants with different pose of the probe arm and two different options for each side of the "mandibles", which you can mix across the set, as you can see in the second picture.

The armour plates are the same for all of them, just make sure to add the sides before you glue the front armour.

The shorter arms have two poses per side as well, which give you additional options for the poses and you can either give them Serperos lascutters or Irraditation engines as support weapons.

Next up, we add the legs. For each leg we have two different designs as well and you can partially mix/swap them. They do come with a tongue-and-groove connection, but you can file that down and pose them more freely if you want to. Yet, there is not necessarily a need for that.

The last step is the addition of the main weapon system, which is either a Exo-planar bombard or a Storm laser array. There are enough in there to build the entire set of four with both options. Those pieces are a bit small, otherwise I'd try to magnetise them.

And as you can see, that was the final step and we can put them on the bases. The models work on the higher "regular" Citadel Bases as well, if you want to incorporate them within Titanicus and the classic base design.

Regarding their size, I expected them to be taller, more around the height of a Warhound. They are about as tall as a Cerastus Knight (keep that in mind for the upcoming 28-32mm scale release).

Conclusion

Good value for these kits, as you get four models in Knight size for 41 EUR RRP, which is a better deal than the pair of Cerastus Knights for 30 EURs. I would have prefered them a bit taller / bigger, maybe around 15%, but beyond that I am very happy about the design choices. These are independent designs, not Imperial, but clearly Mechanicum. And they kept that from head to toe, we didn't just get Knights with spider-legs.

The aspect that they thought about the variation of the legs and minor details, to create a dynamic non-clone unit is something that I appreciate. As well as the fact, that we get rules for their use in Adeptus Titanicus, which is great for me, as I already planned to give my Legio Magna auxiliary forces from the Dark Mechanicum / House Morbidia and further alienates the forces towards my loyalists.
