November 2024 review
It's December - again. That was or at least felt quite quick. Anyhow, let us sum up the last month, November of 2024.
Prior to the christmas time, other holidays were present. For example Sankt Martin, which I took as a chance to built a Space Marine latern, and just a few days earlier was Halloween. Usually something that we only participate as a grown-up party, if at all, but with the kids growing up and in coordination with other households in our little town, we went "trick or treating" with our kids and they got quite the haul.
Regarding hauls, I "just" wanted to pick up some things at Aldi (I'm usually a Lidl customer) and just went there for the sorting boxes and was surprised to see some reasonably priced craft beer by Brewdog and Hot Wheels at the check out.
And oddly enough, I was thinking the other day about a Zamboni for Gaslands, looked for one online and prices of 5-7 Euros were not appealing. But grabbing one for 1,50 EUR at Aldi was a price too good to ignore. And I picked up a Food Truck ... because of reasons.
I got a 12 EUR voucher for Games Workshop (I assume that is a left-over from my cancelled Warhammer+ subscription) and there aren't that many things that you can buy for only 12 EURs at Games Workshop, but the palette caught my eye and I used it already. Pretty nifty tool, especially that it is "self-cleaning", as you simply peel off dried paints.
It was actually one of the tools, that I took with me for the Paint Meetup at Lützensömmern. Had a great weekend, got a few things done and you can read up on it on the blog - TabletopWelt Paint Meeting 2024. I'll cover my progress in designated articles / their according project logs.
But I am already continuing my work on the Legio Astraman, as we will see some Legions Imperialis and Adeptus Titanicus later this month. And I build another Shatterpoint terrain set, well a part of it. The terrain in the starter set is identical with the Highground Terrain Pack with the exception of the Vent Building, but I didn't want to buy the entire starter set as I was just interested in the Vent building, so I picked that up on eBay.
If you buy something, you should sell something and I am currently reducing my collection further. Narrowing down projects, that grew to large. And while I am preparing pictures of my 8th Army and Afrikakorps to sell as lots, I already sold my Cruel Seas collection, which left the house last week. Regarding naval wargames, I'll stay with Black Seas.
I completed my extended Blood Bowl collection. I already have all 12 teams from the 3rd edition including the DeathZone supplement, a 13th team with the Norse (which were released as Mail Order / Troll Magazine addition) and was thinking a long time about adding Lizardmen as a 14th team. And after considering kit bashing one from the old miniatures, I went out looked for offers on the classic team and found a complete one, that would be less hassle and went for it. So now I have a full Lizardmen team with the exception of Sillibilli. I don't really fancy the Amazons, so I feel like I'm complete on that end.
To get around to the christmas topics, I'll cover the annual Da Red Gobbo miniature, that Games Workshop kindly sent me. We did last year the double pack of Da Red Gobbo Surprise and Grotmas Gitz.
In December it is only 3 weeks for me until my vacation starts, and I already some content prepared as well as ideas how to start into the new year. We will update our event schedule, we will change a few things - especially how and what kind of events we approach. For that topic for example we are already thinking about hosted games for next year, more scenario than ruleset driven.
I finished not only Scars but the next audiobook, Vengeful Spirit as well. Now I'm in The Damnation of Pythos and about 45 Minutes in, it is already more boring than the Dark Angels novels in the very beginning. I am really considering skipping this one and going to the next one, Legacies of Betrayal.
I do expect the next Stormbringer shipment towards the end of next week, which will be shown here as soon as possible after the arrival. We do have some reviews and project logs scheduled for December, a few things will become clearer this evening 😉 so stay tuned and come back soon.
