Road to CONflict – Part VI
And on we go, after adding the base colours to the tanks in the last part of our Road to CONflict, we applied the first weathering and first coat of wash onto the models, in this case Army Painters Dark Tone.
To deepen the red, I added a coat of red wash before adding the Dark Tone to the tank.
This is an intermediate step, as it provides a bit of black lining and brings the colours together. Depending on what you're painting or trying to achieve, this will probably bring you half-way there.
As I was running out of time and wanted to get some process done, I used an off-white and beige for dry brushing, as it provides quick highlights and fits with the desert post-apocalypse. I had some decals put aside, but they will only be applied, if I have still time on my hand to finis them until friday night before CONflict 2024.
The regular M4 Sherman is ready for battle. Nothing that will win a paint challenge, but certainly proper tabletop worthy. I 'll probably add decals if I find the time.
The M18 Hellcat got extra dusty, as I was experimenting with the AK Dust & Dirt Deposits for the first time.
Fortress, the re-inforced M4 Sherman, had to move into battle without the final detailling, as I intended to paint the improvised side-skirts as street signs.
Yet, the Sherman Firefly, Red 5, is the most complete in that case, I might try adding some markings with white paint, as you would have seen on the tanks prior to painting.
And our proper wasteland warrior M4 Sherman "Rusty", I spent quite the time on the details, along with adding the heavy rust effect with stippling. But I'm happy how the model came together.
With the tanks painted to a level that I was happy with (and the available time allowed), I went on to finish up the 3d printed scatter terrain - covered in the next part of our Road to CONflict.
