Age of Sigmar Stormbringer Magazine 26 to 31
Last tuesday the 6th shipment of the German Stormbringer by Hachette, delivering the issues 26 to 31, including miniatures and paints.
You can find an overview on the issues so far over here, along with the detailed unboxings of older shipments as well:
- Stormbringer issues 01 to 03
- Stormbringer issues 04 to 07
- Stormbringer issues 08 to 13
- Stormbringer issues 14 to 19
- Stormbringer issues 20 to 25
It is a regular shipment this time, without premium content / subscription bonus (which we will see with the next shipment again with Gordrakk, the Fist of Gork and further additional content). As a subscriber you get the pages for the binder in a single block, and the miniatures and further content in individual bags.
The foldable inlay on the armies of Azyr (one of the 8th realms within the Age of Sigmar) is added seperately and covers impressive artwork.
The first issue of this shipment is Issue #26, and was released last wednesday on July 17th. It comes with two paint pots, both base paints - Barak-Nar Burgundy and Runelord Brass.
As usual with the issues covering paints, the savings aren't the best. In this case the face value of both paints is 7,20 EUR, while the magazine sets you back 10,99 EUR. So individually this is negative savings, but within the whole shipment it is levelled.
Within the issue we're receiving further content, in this case a lot of lore on the Aelves within the faction of order, the Lumineth Realm-Lords, Daughters of Khaine and Idoneth Deepkin, and obviously some suggestions on how to use the new paints we got.
With Issue #27, from July 24th, we get a set of Gryph-Hounds, usually familiars / companions of Stormcast Eternal characters they can be used as a unit of their own as well.
The box of 6 gryph hounds has a RRP of 25,00 EUR, so our savings are quite solid at 10,99 Eur for the issue. You get a total of four sprues (two identical sets) and six 40mm round bases.
In the issue you'll obviously find the assembly and painting instructions, along with a warscroll for their use with Age of Sigmar. And as with a lot of units, you can find their rules for Warcry in the free pdfs.
Another former Warhammer Underworlds warband comes with Issue 28, of July 31st, it's Zarbag's Gitz.
Unlike their Underworlds release, they don't come in pre-coloured yellow plastic, but in regular grey. These are push-fit models, so yo don't need glue to assemble them and they come with pre-designed bases as well. The only difference is the colour and that they're not coming with a card deck.
As the Underworld warbands are now listed at 35 EUR, you save a lot with the 10,99 EUR price tag.
The issue covers the warband, the assembly along with lore on the Gloomspite Gitz and their use with Age of Sigmar, and no surprise, these have rules for Warcry as well.
The second issue with paints this shipment, Issue #29 from August 7th, adds a contrast and a base paint to your collection, Gryph-Hound Orange and Khorne Red.
As the contrast paints are a bit more expensive (6,30 EUR), you are pretty much on point with the retail of the paints (10,90 EUR) and the price tag of the issue. As you would expect, the issue directly shows you how to use them and gives you some painted examples of the factions, as we now already have quite the assortment of paints to work with.
On August 15th we get another batch of Hobgrot Slittaz in Issue 30. This is the first time we have duplicate content, as we already got a set of 10 in issue #06.
The models are push-fit and come with 25mm round bases. As they are usually sold as a pack of 20 for 45 EUR RRP, giving you 22,50 EUR value for this issue of 10,99 EUR. As they have two options for most poses, you have a minimum of doubles, as you can now use a different design of the banner, musician and champion with these.
While issue 06 already had the background on the unit, so this extense the general lore and provides you with the instructions on the alternate builds. And don't throw out the last page, as it comes with pre-printed markers to cut out.
The last issue of the shipment is Issue #31 and will be released on August 21st, with a set of 5 Vigilors (the painted picture shows the full squad of 10).
Vigilors are a ranged combat troop of the Stormcast Eternals and have a RRP of 55 EUR for the whole box, which means these have a value of 22,50 EUR. The box covers the same two sprues we have here, simply twice and come with options for a Vigilor Alpha, as well as 5x 40mm round bases.
Within the issue we get broader content on the lore, as well as the four steps of the Vigilors, lore, assembly, painting and rules.
On the back of that issue, we get a preview on the issues 32 and 33, that will be released starting August 28th. A whole lot of Nightgoblins along with the Knight Judicator and Gryph-Hounds.
This shipment with 6 issues of Age of Sigmar Stormbringer cost us 65,94 EUR (plus another 12 EUR for the premium upgrade) and we got around 130,00 EUR of goods. This is lower than other shipment, mostly due to the paints, but as well that we have half-boxes, who provide around 25 EUR of value on which we got around 50% off. With character sets at 30+ EUR the savings are bigger. Some gems among them, especially Zarbags Gitz.
The next shipment (issues 32 to 37) should arrived around early September, and cover another Underworlds Warband with Yltharis Guardians, opening up the Sylvaneth content in the later issues, and three characters with the Knight Judicator, Druanti Arch-Revenant and a Cave-Shaman.
