April 2024 review
Welcome to May 2024! A lot of things going on behind the scenes, as May is packed with tasks. Just last friday the 4th shipment of Warhammer Age of Sigmar Stormbringer arrived!
While we continue with the Stormcast Eternals warband for Warcry, a lot of the content might be interesting for reviews, just like we did with the Annihilators. With the items from the Stormbringer shipment 3 (Issue 08 to 13) and shipment 4 (Issue 14 to 19), we will very likely cover the following kits, including two Warhammer Underworld warbands:
- Xandires Truthseekers
- Da Kunning Krew
- Stormcast Eternals Praetors
- Man-Skewa Boltboyz
- Krondys, Son of Dracothian - Premium Content from Stormbringer subscription
- Kruleboyz Monsta-Killaz
Anyhow, I was able to get the Stormcasts primed with Army Painter Colour Primer Dragon Red and some further base colours during a bit of mutual hobby time with other Wargaming Daddies. Never painted something red, so this was a novelty for me, but I think it is a great base colour and contrast to the regular golden boys.
In co-operation with Asmodee Germany we will be doing a bit more of Star Wars content, and started with the SWL100 crashed X-Wing battlefield expansion, and further items coming up with the
But if you're thirsty for Star Wars content, on May the Fourth - Tales of the Empire will be published on Disney+. Ours will be published later in something like a two week turnus, along with more outlines on how to use Stargrave for skirmishes below the Legion game size.
Achtung Panzer! arrived with the Blood and Steel Starter Set, covering British and German tanks. At 120 EUR it is a lot of content, but I am not quite sure how to add to this, as I get the cards for other vehicles only in bundles, where I end up with either more plastic kits that I already own or another rulebook.
Florian / Celebration Parallax and me will host a gaming table of tank war on the next CONflict in the midth of May, just before whitsun. But we wanted to cover more of a World of Tanks experience, using the Achtung Panzer! starter set, but moving the setting towards a Cold War Gone Hot / Fallout scenario, where the survivors of the atomic blast in North America salvaged a few vehicles from the tank factories and fight over ressources. Depending on the amount of players and their time we will be using either Achtung Panzer! or Tanks for the Apocalypse as a ruleset.
This obviously means, we can't just leave the tanks as they are but need some storage, and I already 3d printed various bits and pieces to add to the vehicles. But more on that on our Road to CONflict articles in the next few days, but I already managed to provide stage 1, have all the vehicles build, the scatter terrain and mission markers printed, and with some holidays coming up I should be able to get them painted until the 17th.
Another review for Legions Imperialis / Adeptus Titanicus is in the making, with the Dire Wolf kit in plastic. We've covered the resin kit of the Dire Wolf (with Neutron-Laser and Volcano Cannon) by Forge World already on the blog, and this plastic update wasn't a great one from the first experience. This is the least poseable kit from the entire Adeptus Titanicus range so far, as you get two clones in there and they forgot to pack the second terminal in a lot (if not all) boxes and Games Workshop told me it would take a while to fix it. But hey, at least we have now half of the content from the initial wave as individual boxes. So that is something?
And as I don't really like these new flat bases for Legions, I went through some bit shops and ordered various sizes of Titanicus bases, as I want some of my conversion and third party stuff based the same way as my Titan Legions are, and with the first deadline in May for tanks, we will have a second one for August for another instalment of Titan battles.
I was able to do more progress on the Horus Heresy audiobooks and are currently in Book 22 - Shadows of Treachery. After whitsun I'll go for a holiday in the north of UK, currently just a rough sketch for the trip, but it's going to be interesting to see how I can combine that with some wargaming or historical interests.
In Germany today is a holiday, so I'll enjoy the day off.
