Legions Imperialis – Vanguard Miniatures
Back in 2020 we did a review on the Vanguard Miniatures and their range of metal (!) miniatures for Epic. The range is called Defeat in Detail, is available in 3, 6 and 15mm and covers the Novan Commonwealth (Imperium), Cybershadow (Mechanicum) and even some Xenos races.
But as we now have access to the Legions Imperialis range, we want to compare the metal models with the plastic, beginning with their Novan Elites vs. the Legiones Astartes. Pretty close in size, would work at regular games distance.
But as you have access to plastic marines, what about those ranges not offered by Games Workshop? For example the Imperial Army / Militia. Among the Novan Regulars you will find regiments fightin in the desert, jungle or industrial waste. In the middle between Astartes and Solar Auxilia are a few siege warfare troops, closer to the old scale than the new 25% / Quarter scale. But the Sentinels don't look bad next to they new Heavy Sentinels. And if you plan to add some live to your terrain, for example establishing an air field, there is ground personal as well.
One part of the range that I really liked are the Cybershadows, which are a perfect stand in for Mechanicum. They come with regular soldiers, some servitors and great looking characters. I use them partially on my titans as part of the crew and I think it gives that special extra.
This is not a full review, just an update, you can read the whole article on the Defeat in Detail range by Vanguard Miniatures here.
