Adeptus Titanicus – Legio Magna Furor Hereticus Pt. I
As an antagonist for my Legio Astraman and their Ad Arma project, I want to introduce Legio Magna and their own army project - Furor Hereticus!
Inspired by AuxiliaryMirelurk's home brew legio of possessed titans, I looked further into the lore of Legio Magna and decided that a few mutations would be a great way to add something special to this project. And when Games Workshop kindly send me the Wrath of the Soul Forge King boxed set, with Vashtorr the Arkifane and a few other Chaos Space Marine sets (like the Venomcrawler and Obliterators), I had to tinker around.
Vashtorr himself is already a great part donor for reaver sized titans. The groin armour fits perfectly on a reaver, the head is a bit small, so might be more fitting for a warhound or larger Knights, but the wings would make a great trait for some swift mutations.
I am really fond of the exhausts from his back, because they make a great addition. Have to see if I find STLs or bits for these, as cutting up a 60-ish euro model just for this is a bit wild.
A bit smaller were the bits from the Obliterators. Thought the would be a better fit. The banner piece would fit well with the Reaver, the spine part could be converted with the use of green stuff and some of the fleshy cables could be used as well.
But beyond that, only smaller details like the horns could be used. The feet are even to small for Warhounds, or would at least need some extensive conversion.
I happen to have the Khorne Bloodbound part of the old Age of Sigmar starter kit, and it is a feasible part donor as well. But I would replace some of the skulls with more alien / monstrous looking skulls (from the Citadel Skull Set) or with Knight helmets - why? Because they can.
But I printed some bits and pieces of Knights, to decorate the bases and terrain with. These will find their way onto both sides, traitors and loyals. Once again, very satisfied with the quality of my entry-level 3d printer.
I am currently looking into the Dark Commune (for the great standard tops) and Possessed for further mutations. I initially wanted to go for the Accursed Cultists, but they are so small, they would only fit for Knights and with them belonging to House Morbidia, I would go for (Dark) Mechanicum, not possessed/mutated.
Anyhow, through the Ashes of Faith boxed set, I have a few sprues here and will give them a try and keep you posted.
