Spiel 2015 – Part III
Third and final part of my Impressions, start with Warlord Games.
The booth was heavy on Bolt Action and the upcoming release of Beyond the Gates of Antares. I even had the chance to get a closer look on the new plastics, that are going to be part of the new starter set. The warmachines are quite massive and heavy, i wouldn't have expected that weight from them. Impressive. One thing that i am really excited about is, that Gates of Antares has its own unique feel. It doesn't try to be Warhammer, it doesn't try hard to be different, it is just itself.
A regular, just like Freebooter and Warlord Games, is Micro Art Studio. The polish company started with bases and grew incredibly, having their own games like Wolsung, which impressive table with large battle engines you can see below. They are far more than just a company with bases and mdf buildings.
I stumbled upon these nice kits of small scatter terrain. Most of the novelties had a Tau-like design, not a bad timing. But the set with oil drums caught my eye. Definitely going to get that one for Bolt Action, among others.
And yet another familiar face, Ronnie Renton from Mantic Games! Proudly holding up the upcoming Dungeon crawler Dungeon Saga and new Kings of War rulebook. I had the chance to play Dungeon Saga at the Burg Stahleck Event, looking forward to the release. The did demo games, but didn't sell the game, as they wanted to ensure the backers of their kickstarter got it first. He's a gentleman, this Mr. Renton.
By accident i went into hall 7, wasn't expecting that much of miniature games, but really, was i convinced of the contrary. Starting with GCT Studios and their Bushido game, really nice miniatures. I had the chance to get myself a copy of the Rise of the Kage miniatures board game. Expect it to be reviewed on this page!
Another unexpected find, was Human Interface by Postindustrial Games. High quality miniatures, casted in metal, western oriented design. That's going to be something!
And an absolute surprise, just across the gang way from Osprey Games, was Megaton Games. I was talking with them, about the Mechabrick, Lego-Compatible mech range, when i spotted this lovely mech in the corner. Megaton Games will do 2 kickstarters next year, one for Mechabrick and another one, most likely in April for Armoured Syndicate. Expect a fallout like, postapocalyptic world with remote controlled mechs. Oh and i'll be unboxing the Toro Mech, you can see in the third picture.
That's it so far from the Spiel. I am busy wrapping up the coverage, packing my bags, as this weekend the Scale Model Challenge will be hosted in Eindhoven, Netherlands. It is my first time there, i am quite excited and i'll cover it here! If you plan to go to Spiel yourself, the show is opened til Sunday. And most likely, only one day isn't going to be enough to get a hold on everything that is offered at the show, so maybe plan to spend two days at the show.
Thanks for reading, leave a comment if you liked my coverage or give us a like on facebook, it really helps the project. Hope you guys had a great week yourself, read you soon!
