Crisis 2014 – Part 1
On November 1st, the big wargaming event Crisis was held in Antwerp, and the hosts were as usual the Tinsoldiers of Antwerp.
For the third time in the new location near the harbour. Again enlarged, incredible growth in the last years. The foot print was doubled and the show is held in two halls, instead of "only" one. The gang ways became broader, the dining area as well. Especially the second improvement has improved the feel good, less fryer odor and more room for eating visitors. Thumps up!
Especially the bring & buy has an improved layout. The crowded feeling of last year, together with the fall of some larger rule sets, made the second hand market a bit less filled.
One of the things, that really matter for a show like the Crisis, is not only the space but especially the huge number of traders and manufacturers. Where else could you browse in such broad variety the ranges of Perry Miniatures (at shows like Crisis presented by Dave Thomas)?
Some well known faces, that i saw just days before at Spiel in Essen, are in Antwerp as well. Of course there is Freebooter Miniatures. And as usual, well visited and great mood. They even had more to show than in Essen, and added a ship wreck gaming board as well as novelties. But as real pirates and wargmares, they loot other booths as well, so we found Werner and Franz (who hosts the well known german Bring&Buy event Bitbox) at a french manufacturer.
The french from Blockhaus 82 had "Kolaps - Ground Zero" to show. A compact skirmish with a miniatures to get used to. Overdrawn proportions and heavy pricing.
Another familiar face was Fantasy Warehouse from Iserlohn, Germany. Carsten was busy the last nights building the impressive 4Ground Waterloo terrain, which dwarfs the recently introduced Set from Sarissa Precision.
And Hawk Wargames, who where two weeks ago at Spiel as well, had their chance to show Dropzone Commander.
And of course, Prodos Games wasn't missing. In very good mood as you can see, among other things about the upcoming release of Alien vs. Predator. You can kill the time until then with Warzone and the nice looking trench warfare table.
