Crisis 2013 – Part 3
In the third and last part of my coverage, the focus lays upon the manufacturers.
Fireforge Games showed new greens of the mongolian cavalry for Deus Vult. Unfortunately no Alessio Cavatore nor a gaming table with year at their booth. Hawk Wargames, the guys behind Dropzone Commander, were visiting the Crisis as well and set up a large stand.
By Fire and Sword, a 15mm system from poland, was there as well. After the successful kickstarter, wargamer.pl was the new place to be.
Werner Klocke and the Freebooter Crew is a regular at Antwerp. They were busy and the customers queued, to buy the limited miniatures and novelties. The participation rounds were well visited and the amazing hospitality by the pirates made it hard for me to leave.
At Studio Tomahawk / Gripping Beast, SAGA was prominent but not everything. So beside the norse great hall, there were smaller gaming tables and a work in progress novelties about gladiators.
It is a gladiator game, that is played on a 8 x 8 field sized board (like chess). It will be called Jugula and later on supported with miniatures by Gripping Beast.
Warmill was there as well and showed the recently presented MULE system, in the meantime with prices. Proper paint job and "pricy".
Heer46 was not only at the Spiel a few weeks ago, but also at the Crisis. Beside additional parts for other 15mm kits, the small series company had their own kits to offer, like the E-75, E-100 and the Löwe. And they used the chance to announce the upcoming 1:48 Löwe Kickstarter.
And Micro Art Studio of course participated to the show. Impressive 16 hours of travel the polish company for bases, miniatures and terrain, undertook to get to Antwerp. They just came back from Essen Spiel. But they had good mood, never the less.
Pro Gloria Miniatures shared a booth with Stronghold Terrain, and showed some of the 3-Ups of the upcoming Kicktstarter, that will supplement the Landsknechts with a plastic kit. Of course this miniatures were sculpted by Paul Hicks.
As were are talking about Stronghold Terrain, they showed their recently introduced well, a really well done gaming mat along with freshly painted SAGA warbands. Elmar / Elladan set up a great scene with their own terrain range and his anglo-danes.
On the market for a year and a premiere on the crisis, TGCM Creations. They had their fantasy skirmish with them, called Briskars, with lots of Animals.
At warbases you could not only buy bases and regiment bases. Martin has some kits for a Very British Civl War to offer, several english country and city houses.
And of course Warlord Games isn't far when were are talking about a wargamings convention. Quite busy the guys from Nottingham, and lots of customers left with their bags filled with Bolt Action and Hail Caesar.
It was a long day on this Saturday in Antwerpen. Heavily loaded and satisfied, i went back to the car and back to Germany. What shall i say? I am looking forward to next year, some people say they would expand into a third hall. That would mean the Crisis is longing for Salute.
I hope i could give the ones, that didn't make it to Antwerp, a glimpse of the great flair that this show has and i am looking forward to next week in Rudolstadt, at the Radaddel Open Wide Door Day.
