An Unexpected Journey – HdR 2013
This weekend was the 9th LotR Tabletop Community Con, but not as usual at the Kauzenburg, it was held at a new location, the Bonnheimer Hof in Hackenheim.
Otherwise than usual, without my Feldherr messenger bag and only with my dslr equiped, Andreas and i drove down the Rhein toward Bad Kreuznach to pay this event a visit.
In the rural area between Hunsrueck and Rheinhessen, it continues getting more rural until you arrive at a manor. A roll-up in the inner courtyard assures, this is the place! Interesting location, especially for a Lord of the Rings themed event.
Heading for the gaming area, getting a first impression. The tables are in the basement of the manor and the athemosphere is amazing familiar, as we were welcomed directly at the entrance without knowing anybody by the hosts Jürgen and Frank.
I was really amazed to see a westeros themed impetus army, which i already knew from Sweetwater. Great work!
A skilled painter with dreadlocks was working on several miniatures, among them the new forge world miniature of Angron, primarch of the World Eaters. I have to say, i'm glad i didn't bought the miniature, as it is rather small.
There were several gaming tables and Andreas and I stayed at the Bolt Action table from the Dice & Bayonets (Gentlemens Wargamingclub from Speyer) and were lead by Noel through a great game between germans and american in the normandy.
After an intensive introduction round i feel confirmed with my decision to start Bolt Action (especially after buying 4 armies).
I want to thank Jürgen and Frank for hosting and continuing such a great event and another big thank you to Noel for hosting the Bolt Action demo!
